Apple and rhubarb crumble

    Ingredients

    • 6 green apples, peeled and sliced
    • 3 cups rhubarb, chopped
    • ⅓ cup wholemeal plain flour
    • ⅓ cup ground almonds
    • ⅓ cup rolled oats
    • ¼ cup brown sugar
    • 4 tbs margarine
    • ¼ cup flaked almonds

    Method

    1. Step 1

      Combine apple and rhubarb in a microwave dish. Microwave on high for 8 minutes, then place fruit in an ovenproof dish.
    2. Step 2

      Sift flour into a bowl, add ground almonds, rolled oats and sugar. Rub margarine into flour mixture.
    3. Step 3

      Place rhubarb and apple into small oven dishes. Sprinkle crumble and flaked almonds over apple and rhubarb.
    4. Step 4

      Bake in a moderate oven, 180°C, for 40 minutes or until golden.
