Helping New Zealanders eat well since 1901
At Sanitarium Health Food Company we’re a passionate group of people who believe in the potential of every Kiwi to live well. The potential to be healthy - physically and mentally. The potential to be happy. And we believe this starts with simple, good nutrition because what you feed your body and your mind, changes the way you feel.
In 1901 Sanitarium started making health foods in Christchurch, and long before it became trendy, we were promoting the benefits of wholesome plant-based foods. We did this to give New Zealanders healthier choices and we’ve been doing it ever since. Today, we’re the nation's largest health food company and we're still 100% New Zealand owned.
Good food should also be good for the environment. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to source local ingredients and make our products locally to reduce our impact on the planet. We’re also mindful when making decisions around technology, energy sources and methods of operation, to ensure that the choices we make are sustainable.
Caring for the community is a core value of Sanitarium and our 250 employees. Whether it’s fostering good health and wellbeing through the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon, tackling child hunger through the Kick Start Breakfast Club or providing New Zealanders with a free nutrition advice service, we’re here because we want to make a difference.
